What is the most important connection in public speaking?

Everyone says that in public speaking you have to connect with your audience. Yes, that is absolutely true.

But do you know what connection is just as important?

Can we talk about yoga for a minute? 🧘‍♂️

I admit I am really bad at yoga (if you are looking for a yoga master class, please look elsewhere). But one thing I have learned in yoga is how important our feet are.

In yoga, the feet are seen as our foundation. Foundations that support our bodies while maintaining flexibility.

Our feet are stabilizers and also wheels for the vehicle of our body.

Therefore, in yoga, our feet must be well connected to the ground.

Very well CONNECTED.

The same principle applies to public speaking.

When you give a presentation and you enter the stage - do you consciously connect your feet to the ground before you start speaking?

If not, try it. Use that one moment to make a connection between you and the stage.

It will...

...make you feel and look more confident

...create a better connection to your body and therefore to your voice

...prevent you from doing things like crossing your feet or moving without purpose

To be a better public speaker, you don't have to attend yoga classes 😁.

But remember: To be stable and flexible at the same time CONNECT with the stage, then CONNECT with your audience.
