How do you become an IRRESISTIBLE speaker? It's simple: Be like a donut...
Call me crazy, but I swear: This donut was talking to me! š¢ š©Ā
I had just walked into my favourite bakery this morning to buy some bread when this donut clearly said:
āBuy me! Eat me!ā
My resistance lasted about 0.1 nanoseconds, then I bought it and I ate it, of course.
The big promise this IRRESISTIBLE donut had made to me from the first second was:Ā
I AM SUPER TASTY!Ā
And the donut kept its promise, I can tell you.šĀ
But now that this delicious donut is history, what does this have to do with your public speaking?
There's one thing you need to be sure of when you're speaking to an audience:
Like the donut, you need to be IRRESISTIBLE right from the start!
How do you do this? Like the donut, you need to make a promise to your audience.Ā
THE ONE reason to listen to you, a motive to give you their time and attention.
In your speech or presentation, think of the ONE sentence you will say at the beginning that will make your audience want to hear more from you. That will keep them listening throughout your speech.
This promise is the central idea, it determines what stays in your speech and what's superfluous.
A sentence like:
āIn the next 30 minutes, you will learnā¦ā
orĀ
āVery soon, you will discover an amazing new way toā¦ā
If you keep your promise, your audience will be more than satisfied at the end of your speech.
As a speaker, you don't have to be as sweet as a donut, but at least as IRRESISTIBLE...
